Vets First Ever Century Ride

Saturday 26th Septmember 2013 saw the Vets complete their first ever century ride.

The ride began & ended in the very picturesque Borders village of Paxton & was based on the Kelso Loop, one of four rides looping around the Scottish Borders. Wonderful riding country - if you've never been - GO!

8 o'clock saw a rather misty start to the ride, the stillness a good omen of the outstanding weather that was to come - dry, plenty of sun & light winds.

First stop Eyemouth for a picture.

Then into the hills near to the coast, fantastic scenery.

First pit stop, The Square at Duns, a third completed.
Could have been France!

Well on our way now, Hume Castle - not the first & wouldn't be the last castle we passed during the day.

100 miles completed,  7hours & 3 minutes of cycling, Union Bridge, Horncliffe.
We are all stood bang on the centre of the Border.

And then there was beer.........................

  1. Thanks to everyone for making the weekend fun. Hard work made easier with encouragement and camaraderie of all. Particular thanks to Pete for excellent organisation as usual and to Susan for allowing us to invade for a couple of days. Andy D
